Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) – Interim
6-Month Contract | £800 – £1,000/day (Inside IR35)
Hybrid – 2-3 Days Onsite
We are working with a high-profile, complex organisation in Oxfordshire to recruit a strategic, business-facing Interim CISO to lead a major cybersecurity transformation programme.
This is a critical interim role at a turning point in the client\’s cyber maturity journey. Historically, efforts have been fragmented and reactive – but now, with strong executive backing and renewed focus at board level, there\’s a real opportunity to shape a robust, organisation-wide security strategy from the ground up.
You\’ll take ownership of the end-to-end security agenda – from audit findings and risk assessment to capability review, team structure, and strategic roadmap. You\’ll have the autonomy and senior-level support to design a sustainable security function and guide the organisation through meaningful, long-term change.
Key Responsibilities:
– Define and deliver a clear, strategic cybersecurity roadmap aligned to recent audit findings (e.g. NIST).
– Review and assess the current cyber operating model and make clear recommendations for structure, resourcing, and capability improvement.
– Influence and gain trust across senior stakeholders, including governance boards and executive leadership.
– Operate confidently in a federated, multi-stakeholder environment – where success relies as much on influence and relationships as on technical planning.
What We\’re Looking For:
– An experienced CISO or senior security leader with a proven track record of leading transformation in complex organisations.
– Strong strategic mindset, coupled with enough technical credibility to challenge, guide, and assure at board level.
– A confident communicator, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders – from technical teams to executive boards and risk committees.
– Comfortable in environments where change is driven through trust, collaboration, and influence rather than central mandate.
– Ideally, candidates will have operated in-house at senior level
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: Initial 6 months (potential to extend)
Location: Hybrid – typically 2-3 days onsite, more in early weeks to build relationships
