We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS DevOps Engineer to lead the design, automation, and deployment of cutting‑edge cloud solutions on AWS. This is a pivotal role where you will work alongside talented teams to deliver scalable, secure, and highly available systems that support critical government operations. What you’ll bring:
- Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and managing DevOps pipelines and automation tools within AWS environments.
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), CI / CD pipelines, and containerisation technologies.
- Deep understanding of deployment strategies, ensuring solutions are repeatable, scalable and resilient.
- Ability to identify process optimisation opportunities and lead their implementation.
- Proficiency in integrating security controls into solutions to mitigate threats.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working alongside software engineers and delivery teams.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies to drive efficient project delivery.
- Supportive mentoring skills to guide junior colleagues and share best practices.
Nice to have:
- Experience with additional cloud providers or hybrid cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.

- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer.
Preferred education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of hands‑on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering or system automation roles, preferably within government or large enterprise environments.
Other requirements:
- Willingness to attend occasional in‑person meetings and quarterly planning sessions across London, Birmingham and Belfast.
- You MUST have active SC security clearance for this role (We are unable to renew a lapsed clearance).
- Willing to work on a 12‑month contract, with flexibility for a short notice period if required.
