Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern

We are looking for a M&E Shift Technician to join the Critical Environments team at a Data Centre in Croydon. This is a key operational role within a 24/7 critical environment, responsible for ensuring business-critical systems operate safely, reliably, and in line with strict SLA and KPI requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Maintain all critical building systems including UPS, generators, HV/LV systems, PDUs, CRAC units, and BMS
  • Respond to alarms, faults, and breakdowns, ensuring rapid and effective resolution
  • Act as an HV Authorised Person in line with contract requirements
  • Ensure environmental conditions (temperature & humidity) are maintained at all times
  • Complete all maintenance documentation, shift logs, and reports accurately and on time
  • Prepare and adhere to RAMS and Permit to Work systems
  • Supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with H&S and site procedures
  • Promote a professional image and maintain strong working relationships with client representatives
  • Support Shift Manager duties when required and provide shift cover as needed
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
  • HV Authorised Person (or able to achieve)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
  • Proven experience working in critical environments (data centres essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of generators, UPS, HVAC, BMS, and electrical distribution systems
  • Excellent understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
