About the Role

We are seeking a Data Centre Technician to support the delivery of critical maintenance and engineering services at a high-availability data centre in Farnborough. This role involves preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and ensuring the site remains operational and compliant with safety and performance standards.
You'll be part of a team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems and other essential technical infrastructure within the data centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections and scheduled preventative maintenance across Mechanical and Electrical systems.
  • Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors to ensure work complies with relevant processes, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and record readings from UPS systems, PDUs, and other utilities.
  • Execute both planned and reactive maintenance tasks according to established procedures.
  • Identify and resolve minor facility faults and escalate complex issues as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed and participate in regular quality and safety audits.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Completed a recognised technical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar technical or engineering environment (data centre or critical facilities preferred).
  • Comfortable working shifts, including weekends and holidays, as part of a 24/7 operation.
  • Basic understanding of BMS, HVAC, UPS, and PDU systems.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities with a proactive and safety-first approach.
  • Basic maths proficiency (eg, calculating percentages or simple measurements).
  • Physically fit to meet the demands of the role.
