Location: London or Edinburgh

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 to 3 days per week on-site

Day Rate: £425 per day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 6 Months

Partner closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and analysts to shape strategic data products that drive business value and informed decision-making.

Play a key role in delivering solutions that enhance customer outcomes by enabling trusted, scalable, and governed data assets across the organisation.

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to support the design and delivery of enterprise-grade data products within a modern cloud-based data ecosystem. You will be responsible for creating scalable, governed data models that align with the organisation’s Retail Federated Data Model and wider enterprise data architecture standards.

Working closely with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Architects, and business stakeholders, you will ensure that data structures are robust, reusable, and capable of supporting both current and future business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise data products.
  • Ensure alignment with federated and enterprise-wide data architecture standards and principles.
  • Define data entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies, and business rules.
  • Translate business requirements into structured and scalable data models in collaboration with Data Analysts and stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance to Data Engineers on data structures, modelling patterns, and data granularity requirements.
  • Promote consistency, reusability, and standardisation of data models across multiple business domains.
  • Support data governance initiatives, including metadata management, lineage, and data quality practices.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to optimise data design for cloud-based platforms.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of modelling standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Support the delivery of data products that enable analytical, operational, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience in data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical modelling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of relational modelling methodologies, including Third Normal Form (3NF).
  • Experience with dimensional modelling approaches for analytical and reporting solutions.
  • Knowledge of Data Vault modelling principles would be advantageous.
  • Expertise in designing data models for data lakes, data platforms, and modern cloud environments.
  • Experience working with AWS, Snowflake, or comparable cloud-based data storage and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming technologies, including Kafka.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage frameworks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience within Banking, Financial Services, or Retail data environments is preferred.
