Job Title: Data Centre Shift Technician
Location: Hayes, UK

Overview:
A leading provider of integrated facilities management services is seeking a skilled and proactive Data Centre Shift Technician to join its critical environment team in Hayes. This role is ideal for experienced engineers already working in data centres or for those looking to transition into mission-critical environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems and associated infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards, supporting business continuity for critical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain electrical systems in accordance with industry standards and safety codes.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on all equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues.
  • Update maintenance and fault records in computer-based systems.
  • Support installations, modifications, and upgrades to on-site electrical infrastructure.
  • Maintain clear and accurate communication with the Shift Supervisor regarding ongoing works, plant status, and housekeeping.
  • Ensure all areas including workshops, plant rooms, and rest areas are maintained in excellent condition.
  • Participate in fault identification, escalation, and resolution across various systems including:
  • Building electrical systems
  • Lighting and emergency lighting
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Fire detection and suppression systems
  • UPS systems, generators, HVAC, AHUs, and motors
  • Low and high voltage systems (training provided where needed)

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the Building Services or Critical Environments sector
  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in electrical services/maintenance
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification
  • Strong understanding of UPS, generators, water treatment, and HVAC systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • IT literate and confident using digital maintenance systems
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required (some travel may be necessary)
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and a strong team player

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • HV Authorised Person status
  • Confined Space Entry trained
  • Formal apprenticeship background
  • Experience working with static Switches, BMS, and fire suppression systems
