An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced M&E Shift Technician to join a leading Critical Environments team within a major London data centre. This role is essential to maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of all critical building systems on site. Working as part of a 24/7 shift team, you will play a key role in supporting technical operations, responding to incidents, and ensuring contractual SLA delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver PPM, reactive, and breakdown maintenance across all mechanical and electrical plant, aligned to site schedules and asset lists.
- Maintain and troubleshoot critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, HV systems, PDU units, CRAC units, and associated control/monitoring systems.
- Work in accordance with high safety standards, completing Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
- Quickly resolve plant faults, escalating issues to the Shift Manager when required.
- Maintain accurate shift logs, paperwork, job records, and site documentation.
- Oversee subcontractors, ensuring permit‑to‑work processes and RAMS compliance.
- Ensure all critical areas remain secure, clean, and well‑presented at all times.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover when needed and remain flexible with shift patterns.
- Support the Shift Manager by standing in when required and ensuring KPI/SLA compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and client representatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Refrigeration Building Services.
- HV Authorised Person (or ability to obtain AP status).
- 18th Edition (BS7671) certification.
- Strong experience maintaining critical environments, ideally data centres.
- Solid understanding of generators, UPS systems, chillers, HVAC, BMS, and close‑control cooling systems.
- Good communication skills, strong problem‑solving ability, and a calm, methodical approach under pressure.
- Physically fit and comfortable with lone working where required.
