As a Data Centre Technician (Shift), you’ll support the site team to keep client data centre environments running reliably—delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to reactive tasks, and managing the safe coordination of contractors across key M&E systems. You’ll help maintain high standards through proactive issue identification, accurate reporting via CMMs, and calm, professional escalation when matters become urgent. Required Skills
- Trained in a technical discipline, ideally having completed an apprenticeship or equivalent.
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and ability to meet BS7671:2008 requirements (18th Edition).
- Previous experience in a critical maintenance environment.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Sound understanding of permit‑to‑work systems and health & safety requirements.
- Ability to understand technical drawings.
- Familiarity with power provisioning, PDUs, and environmental monitoring.
- Basic PC literacy and confidence with database/reporting tasks (training provided on site system).
- Willing and able to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
Nice to Have Skills
- Basic Excel/Word/Outlook capability and confidence producing/using reports.
- Experience with or understanding of UPS systems and emergency standby generators.
- Prior exposure to BMS (Building Management Systems) operation.
- Familiarity with incident reporting and maintaining compliance records.
- Experience conducting condition assessments and managing out‑of‑line situations.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Good basic education with strong English (written and spoken) and basic Mathematics.
- Formally trained in mechanical and electrical services maintenance.
- City & Guilds 236 parts 1 & 2 (or later) or equivalent.
- Coverage aligned to 17th Edition (as required).
- Experience maintaining mission‑critical facilities, including reactive and planned preventative maintenance.
Other Requirements
- Must be eligible for SC clearance.
- Must be able to qualify and act as an Authorised Person (AP) within 6 months of onboarding.
- Ability to carry out isolations and reinstatement work on systems including Electrical, Gas, Fire Alarms, and Sprinkler systems (where authorized/required).
- Be prepared to issue/handle permits for access (maintenance/service/project activities).
- Complete the critical services training programme.
- Work in line with CBRE and Client safety/security requirements, statutory duties, and SLA/DOU processes.
- Accountable for maintaining secure storage and controlled issue of spares/consumables.
- Reports to the Contract Manager and Site Supervisor (no direct reporting staff).
- Shift pattern flexibility for holiday, training & sickness.
