The Role
A leading UK financial services organisation is seeking a skilled Test Automation Engineer to support the modernisation of their IT landscape. You will work within an Agile team to build and maintain automated test frameworks and contribute to the quality and reliability of mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities include:
• Design and build test scenarios based on business requirements and acceptance criteria
• Develop and maintain automated tests using the customer toolset
• Perform functional, regression, and integration testing across various applications
• Automate RESTful and SOAP service testing
• Record and report test results, logging and tracking defects through to resolution
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and testers within Agile ceremonies
• Ensure test environments are appropriately managed and maintained
• Apply test-driven development principles
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices and frameworks
• Ensure testing activities adhere to compliance and quality standards
Essential Skills:
• 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in test automation
• Proficient in Python, .NET, or C# for automated testing
• Strong experience with tools like Selenium, Cucumber, and REST Assured
• Familiarity with testing RESTful APIs, SOAP services, and web UIs
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) and version control (Bitbucket)
• Working knowledge of Agile processes and tools (JIRA, Confluence)
• Strong defect reporting and troubleshooting capabilities
• Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
• Exposure to Financial Services or other regulated industries
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and drive quality outcomes
Desirable:
• Oracle SQL and Windows client/server applications
• Familiarity with contract management or transactional systems
• Experience in the Automotive Finance industry
