The Role
You’ll be a key adult for young people whose education has become fragile, and a steady hand for the mentors working alongside you. You’ll set the tone, hold the standards, and make sure the calm we promise on day one is the calm we deliver every day.
About Storyy Education
Storyy Education is a trauma-informed education partner working with schools, families, local authorities, and young people across the UK. We help young people whose learning has been disrupted by anxiety, exclusion, instability, SEMH needs, or systems that moved too fast for them, to restore readiness, rebuild structure, and re-engage with learning.
This role is based at our new Wiltshire provision, delivered in partnership with Ascend Trust. The RESET Programme works with young people aged 11 to 16 who need a calm, structured, therapeutic setting to rebuild confidence and find their way into appropriate long-term placements. It’s a new site and a real opportunity to help shape the practice from the start.
What you’ll actually do
- Lead one-to-one and small-group mentoring focused on social and emotional regulation, behaviour for learning, and re-engagement.
- Help build and deliver personalised RESET intervention plans alongside the wider team.
- Act as a key adult for young people, holding routine, restorative practice, and secure relationships at the centre of the work.
- Model and coach best practice in behaviour management, de-escalation, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Support transitions, reintegration planning, and ongoing assessment, liaising with schools, families, and external professionals.
- Track progress and report it accurately, so the right people always know what’s working and what isn’t.
- Supervise and informally coach mentors and volunteers, day to day.
- Uphold safeguarding without compromise, and hold the team to the same standard.
- Contribute to risk assessments, daily planning, and team communication.
- Champion a culture of nurture, inclusion, and high expectations.
The kind of person we’re looking for
- Substantial experience with young people in education, youth work, or social care, particularly those with SEMH or SEND needs.
- A genuine grasp of trauma-informed practice and what it looks like on a Tuesday afternoon, not just in a training deck.
- Experience leading or supporting a small team, or the readiness to step into it.
- Strong, plain-spoken communication with young people, families, and professionals.
- Sharp organisational and reflective skills. We hire people who think on their feet and learn from what happens.
- An unshakeable commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive education.
- Full Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, on the Update Service or willing to obtain.
- Valid UK driving licence and business car insurance.
