Dow Jones Newswires is seeking a Dutch Financial Translator to join our growing team of linguists and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of our content while continually monitoring the quality of our auto‑translation model. As part of this role, you will work from one of our offices in London, Brussels, or the Netherlands, and enjoy a 3‑day‑per‑week hybrid schedule. The position starts as a fixed‑term contract with strong potential to transition into a permanent role.
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D and QA initiatives for our English‑to‑Dutch machine translation engine, vetting data strategy results and performing daily output audits.
- Define and implement correction policies to ensure Dutch products meet the rigorous standards of Dow Jones editorial excellence.
- Architect and maintain comprehensive glossaries that anchor our AI in accurate financial and economic terminology.
- Engineer and iterate on prompts to continuously evolve the style, tone, and technical accuracy of automated news feeds.
- Partner with global stakeholders across Product, Editorial, and Data Strategy teams to drive workflow efficiencies and share best practices.
- Map third‑party content to expand and enrich our Dutch‑language market offering.
- Modernise content generation by translating and refining automated templates that power real‑time financial updates.
Qualifications
- Native‑level mastery of Dutch (C2) with deep understanding of European business etiquette and cultural nuances.
- Proven expertise in LQA and MTPE (Machine Translation Post‑Editing), with a track record of improving automated outputs.
- Technical proficiency with CAT tools, specifically in building, importing, and managing complex terminology databases.
- Specialist’s command of financial terminology, with the ability to translate complex economic concepts accurately from English to Dutch.
- Hands‑on experience with GenAI and LLMs, including a foundational understanding of how prompt engineering influences model behavior.
- Background in professional newsrooms or high‑pressure editorial environments (strongly preferred).
