Children's After School Class Leader

Full-Time No working from home possible
Storybook Studios LTD

Company Description Storybook Studios delivers premium, story led enrichment experiences for preschool and primary-aged children across Kent and East Sussex. Each class begins with a story and transforms it into an immersive, hands-on session using cookery, movement, drama, music, mindfulness, and creative learning. The programs are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of reading while blending education with imagination. Storybook Studios partners with schools, nurseries, and community settings to provide high-quality enrichment clubs, workshops, and holiday experiences that inspire children to explore, create, and thrive.

Role Description

The After School Enrichment Class Leader is a flexible, part-time, term-time role delivering Storybook Studios' creative enrichment classes in schools across East Sussex, including Rotherfield, Mayfield, Frant and Wadhurst.

Rather than teaching every subject, you'll become the lead for one or more of our specialist programmes, depending on your skills, experience and interests. These include:

  • Story-led Cookery
  • Singing & Music
  • Drama (Early Years or Primary)
  • Mindful Movement & Yoga
  • Interactive Storytelling

Working alongside the Storybook Studios team, you'll help develop engaging lesson plans and activities. We'll provide the overall programme structure, resources and learning objectives, and you'll bring each session to life with your enthusiasm, creativity and ability to engage children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality after-school enrichment sessions using Storybook Studios' lesson plans and resources.
  • Prepare for each session by familiarising yourself with the lesson plan and gathering any required materials.
  • Create a warm, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child feels encouraged to participate.
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs of different ages and abilities while maintaining the core learning objectives.
  • Manage behaviour positively and ensure children's safety and wellbeing at all times.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and school staff.
  • Maintain accurate attendance registers and any required records.
  • Set up and tidy away equipment before and after each session.
  • Contribute ideas during planning meetings to help shape and improve future lessons.
  • Represent Storybook Studios professionally and uphold our high standards of creativity, education and care.

We're looking for confident, enthusiastic individuals who love inspiring children through creativity. Whether your passion is cooking, music, drama, movement or storytelling, you'll have the opportunity to specialise in the areas you enjoy most while delivering memorable, story-led experiences that encourage a lifelong love of learning.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential

  • Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, performing arts, coaching or enrichment setting.
  • Confidence leading groups of preschool and/or primary-aged children in a fun, engaging and inclusive way.
  • A passion for inspiring children through one or more of our specialist programmes, including cookery, drama, singing, movement & yoga, or interactive storytelling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build positive relationships with children, parents and school staff.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Reliable, organised and able to prepare for sessions using Storybook Studios' lesson plans and resources.
  • A warm, patient and enthusiastic approach, with a genuine commitment to helping children grow in confidence and develop a love of learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to obtain (or already hold) an Enhanced DBS Check.
  • Willingness to obtain (or already hold) a Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Desirable

  • A qualification or experience in education, childcare, performing arts, music, sport, yoga, cookery or another relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience delivering extracurricular clubs, workshops or children's activities.
  • Experience adapting activities for children with different abilities and learning needs.

Training & Support

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive induction and ongoing support from the Storybook Studios team. We provide lesson structures, planning guidance and resources to ensure you feel confident delivering our programmes.

If you don't already hold an Enhanced DBS Check or Level 3 Paediatric First Aid qualification, Storybook Studios will arrange and fund these as part of your onboarding, subject to successful appointment.
