About Us

At AUAR, we\’re on a mission to make sustainable housing universally accessible. Our small but ambitious team has built a fully integrated tech stack spanning the value chain, from cloud-based design to pop-up robotic Micro Factories. We\’ve made great progress in building and refining our technology to ensure that our customers (Home-builders) can build cost-effectively with timber. We\’ve proven ROI for our first customers and we have the cash to scale our business across the UK, EU and US.

We’re passionate about making a positive impact on both people and the planet, and we’re looking for individuals who share our values and drive to help us achieve the next stage of our mission. If you’re ready to be part of a dynamic, innovative team shaping the future of construction, we’d love to hear from you!

???? About the Role

We’re looking for a Robotics Developer to join our multidisciplinary Automation team at AUAR. As a Robotics Developer, you will be responsible for programming and simulating robotic hardware, which is centred around industrial robots that machine and assemble timber components. You will report to the Lead Robotics Developer and work closely with the rest of the automation team to develop new and existing capabilities in line with the development roadmap. Your role will be wide-ranging including elements of research, programming, testing, commissioning and documenting. You will work with other teams across AUAR, particularly the in-house software team, to ensure automation capabilities are integrated closely with the rest of AUAR’s DFMA software.

This is a key role in the development or AUAR’s automation capability and pivotal to the success of the business.

️ Key Responsibilities

  • Build detailed simulations of current and future versions of the micro factory cell
  • Write and maintain robot programs that power the micro factory cell
  • Manage the robot codebase with version control and documentation
  • Collect, manage and analyse data from both real and simulated micro factory cells
  • Support the commissioning and operation of micro factory cells in customer facilities
  • Perform physical testing and debugging with our robots and automation hardware
  • Work closely with the rest of the automation team to design and engineer new product upgrades and versions
  • Work closely with our in-house software team to create seamless user experiences across our DFMA software platform
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop space
  • Promote healthy and safe working conditions in our facilities and in the equipment we ship to customers.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are carried out in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Set aside time to ideate and prototype ways to improve our products and ways of working

️ About You

We’re looking for a superstar robotics software developer to join our team! Although the list below is long, it doesn’t matter if you can’t cover all of the below, the role is flexible and we’d love to hear from you anyway.

  • You have extensive experience programming industrial robots and automated manufacturing equipment with knowledge on robot setup, calibration, and safe operation in production environments.
  • You have extensive experience building complex simulations of robot/automation systems
  • Deep understanding of robot kinematics, robot control, path planning algorithms and have used ROS/ROS2 to implement those.
  • You’ve worked with ABB RAPID, Robot Studio and ROS/ROS2 systems
  • You have extensive programming experience in a professional setting using a variety of languages and frameworks (e.g. ABB RAPID, Python, C++)
  • You have some experience designing in CAD software, such as Inventor or Solidworks
  • You have a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or an equivalent field
  • You have 2+ years of industry experience
  • You’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment, testing and optimising your working methods as you go
  • You’re happy to do some travel as part of the role

What We Offer

  • Flexible working (where possible) with the team based in Central London. This role requires hands-on and highly collaborative working, so we expect this role to require 3-5 days per week in the office/workshop.
  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Share options so we all benefit from AUAR’s success
  • A values-led working culture which informs all aspects of how we work
  • Generous leave with 28 days bookable days each year (+bank holidays +seasonal office closure)
  • Well-being support, including health & dental Insurance
  • Opportunity to be an early employee and help us shape the business as we grow
