Who we look for

We are interested in speaking with lawyers with Planning expertise who share our values and want to practise law differently.

Legal expertise

You will be a recognised expert in your field, typically with a minimum of 7 years’ post‑qualification experience. You come from leading City, national and international firms, senior in‑house roles, and established boutique or independent practices. Spencer West is consistently recognised in Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500, reflecting the firm’s depth of expertise and commitment to excellence.

Entrepreneurial mindset

You will have the ambition and growth mindset to run your own practice. This may be as an individual practitioner or with a view to building and growing a team.

Essential Requirements

  • An active practising certificate/ licence to practice law with no restrictions
  • Willingness to operate on a self‑employed basis (as a sole trader or via a limited company – your choice)
