Hybrid working policy
We operate a hybrid working arrangement from our Head Office in Leeds. We support flexible working, but team members are expected to be in the office or with clients at least twice per week to stay connected and build strong relationships.
The role
We are looking for a Mid-Level Data Management Consultant to join our team. If you have foundational knowledge of data management concepts and believe that well-governed data leads to better performance, this role is for you. As a Data Management Consultant, you will work closely with clients and internal teams to design and implement data management initiatives. Projects vary across industries.
Key responsibilities:
- People-focused Data Management β Arranging and running interviews and workshops to understand data problems and current data management practices.
- Support Data Management Strategies β Help create and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
- Data Ownership β Help appoint data owners and stewards and support them in adopting their roles.
- Data Quality β Evaluate, improve, and monitor data quality and integrity to support decision-making.
- Data Security β Monitor and ensure adherence to data regulations and standards, such as UK GDPR.
- Data Lifecycle Management β Map the data lifecycle from creation to deletion, documenting issues, and recording information in data catalogues and glossaries.
- Training and Education β Train staff on data management policies and procedures to ensure consistent understanding and application.
What weβre looking for
At mid-level, you are a consistent and reliable contributor within teams. This level is a step up from a Junior position. We support your development through The Oakland Academy and L&D benefits. Weβre open to candidates from diverse backgrounds. Key skills and experience include:
- Experience implementing Data Management initiatives such as Data Quality, Data Security, Data Governance, or Data Lifecycle Management.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities; able to explain technical problems to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical skills to document, assess, and improve data.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of how data impacts business success.
- Broad understanding of technical data management capabilities (data modelling, integration, storage, etc.).
- Aware of data management tools and technologies (Purview, Erwin, Collibra, Informatica, etc.).
- Hands-on experience implementing data policies and procedures.
- Qualifications or certifications in Data Management (e.g., DAMA) are helpful but not essential.
