We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Fitter to join our maintenance team in our Beckingham Depot and begin a practical, hands-on career in plant and on-track machinery maintenance. This apprenticeship offers structured training, real workplace experience and the opportunity to develop into a skilled engineering professional, working alongside experienced Fitters from day one.
The Role
As an Apprentice Fitter, you will learn how to maintain, inspect and repair plant and on-track plant machinery and attachments, ensuring equipment is kept to required safety and industry standards. You will gradually build technical knowledge and confidence while contributing to the smooth operation of our plant fleet.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Years 1-2: Foundation & Skills Development
- Work alongside qualified Fitters in workshop environments
- Learn the principles of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel and electrical systems
- Carry out maintenance inspections, servicing and repairs
- Interpret service manuals, parts lists and technical diagrams
- Assist with pre-delivery and post-delivery inspections
- Accurately complete maintenance records using our systems
- Develop strong awareness of safety and compliance standards
- Year 3: Increased Responsibility
- Attend operational sites to complete inspections, servicing and repairs
- Provide fitter support on site as required
- Continue developing towards full competence as a Fitter
