We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant to join our Group Finance Team based from our Carlisle office - there has never been a better time to join!
The Role
As Group Accountant at Story Contracting you will provide assistance in the preparation of management and annual accounts for the Group, meeting legislative requirements and undertaking projects as and when required. Some key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with the production of the group management account pack providing meaningful information to aid decision making
- Supporting with the production of data and information to external stakeholders
- Providing support and finance team representation to various colleagues and teams
- Developing processes and controls ensuring they are “fit for purpose”

The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified accountant (ICAEW/ICAS/CIMA/ACCA), or in the final stages of qualification
- Working knowledge of relevant tax legislation (VAT/Corporation tax)
- Experience of preparing company and consolidated statutory accounts
- Knowledge of the construction and contracting industry (desirable)
- IT literate, specifically Excel and experience of working with accounting software packages
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Experience of working to deadlines at pace, with changing priorities
