Are you an ambitious Assistant Project Manager with aspirations of a project management role in the future? We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Team based in our Chorley or Carlisle offices and supporting the North West Team.
The Role:
- Support the Project Manager to meet the key accountabilities of the Pre-Construction team through the work winning, development and planning of required works prior to handover to Operations for delivery.
- Co-ordinate the full project team to ensure contracted works are delivered safely and in line with contract scope, programme and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Winning: Provide support, and where appropriate take the lead, during the tender period by documenting access and methodology, developing risk and opportunity registers and developing tender programmes and resource schedules.
- Pre-Construction & Design Management: Establish and own the Project Management Plan (PMP) for each project. Engage construction management and engineering team members to accurately produce and maintain all project planning documentation throughout the pre-construction phase. Manage all activities and monitor project performance against the baseline programme, reporting progress internally and externally. Work closely with the Design Co-Ordinator to ensure design deliverables are progressed effectively and efficiently to meet agreed contract milestones. Development of all project documentation and notices/consents/permits. Gain familiarity with the project cost-to-complete and drive efficiency via the profit bridge. On behalf of Senior Project Manager, attend, support and challenge at key design review stages. Develop and maintain positive relationships with all client representatives. Play active role in the procurement and management of supply chain partners required during the Pre-Construction phase. As identified in project specific PMP, produce draft project documentation and handover plans.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified to degree or HNC level in construction/project management or an engineering discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in an Assistant Project Manager (or similar) role within the infrastructure civil engineering sector, specifically the rail, highways, water or energy sectors.
- Hold aspirations of a project management role in the future.
- Ability to work independently, lead projects and work as part of a team.
- Build, maintain and develop relationships with Clients and key stakeholders at all levels.
- SMSTS 5 Day Site Safety certified, PTS certified, CSCS certified.
