StorMagic is looking for a self-motivated, driven Associate QA Automation Engineer to join our Engineering Services Team. This role is responsible for the quality lifecycle of our HCI solutions from initial investigations and manual testing through to the development of sophisticated automation testing. This role will play a key part in two of our distinct production lines, each utilizing their own tech stack. In this role you will learn how to test at the intersection of software and hardware, dealing with virtualization, storage, and networking layers. This role is 100% remote.

About Us: StorMagic is solving the world’s edge data problems. We help organizations of all types and sizes use, protect, and manage their applications and data at the edge. Our software products ensure data is always protected and available, no matter the type or location, to provide value anytime, anywhere. StorMagic has been focused on edge computing since its inception nearly 20 years ago. With more than 50,000 installations in large enterprises and thousands of small business customers around the world, StorMagic has a proven track record of delivering the performance, uptime, and support needed at the edge.

The responsibility of the role will include:

  • Perform deep-dive manual testing on new features to understand system behaviour and identify bugs that automated scripts might miss.
  • Design and document detailed, reusable test cases in Xray for Jira, ensuring clear traceability back to product requirements.
  • Under the guidance of senior engineers, write and maintain automated test scripts in Python (Selenium) and Java (Playwright) across two different product lines.
  • Engage in 2-week sprint cycles, contributing to daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Identify, record, and track defects in Jira, providing clear logs and reproduction steps to help developers resolve issues quickly.
  • Monitor automated test runs in GitLab CI and Jenkins, assisting in the investigation of "red" builds to determine if the cause is a product bug or a script failure.
  • Actively develop your skills in HCI domain knowledge (Virtualization, Storage, Networking) and cross-language automation.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience/bootcamp).
  • Solid basic proficiency in either Python or Java (and a willingness to learn both).
  • A strong understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and what makes a "good" test case.
  • A genuine interest in how IT infrastructure works—Virtualization (KVM/ESXi), servers, and storage.
  • Familiarity with Jira (experience with Xray or other test management tools is a significant advantage).
  • The ability to explain a technical defect clearly and concisely.

Additionally, while not essential candidates with the following experience would be preferred:

  • Experience with AI-assisted tools to utilise as an accelerator for debugging, drafting initial test cases in Xray, or AI assisted learning.
  • Possess an ability to use these tools to work more efficiently while maintaining full ownership of the testing logic and product requirements.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Flexible working arrangements that respect diverse lifestyles.
  • Wellness Initiatives.
  • Share Options.
  • Home Office Set up.
  • Company events as well as regular virtual events to connect with colleagues.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • The chance to work with cutting-edge technology in a supportive and collaborative team atmosphere.
