CNC Setup Technician – 2nd Shift
Location: Sussex, WI
Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00pm-10:00pm)
Pay: $25-30/hr
Overview
This role focuses on CNC machine setups, tooling changes, program verification (G-code/M-code), and first-piece inspections to ensure quality and efficient production. Experience with horizontal or vertical machining centers is acceptable.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines per blueprints, setup sheets, and production schedules
- Install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices
- Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs, offsets, and tool compensation
- Read blueprints and interpret GD&T and process documentation
- Perform first-piece inspections using precision measuring tools
- Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain quality and efficiency
- Troubleshoot setup and machining issues to reduce downtime
- Support operators during startup and production handoff
- Maintain setup documentation and inspection records
- Follow safety and 5S/lean practices
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years CNC setup experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with CNC mills (horizontal and/or vertical machining centers)
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code adjustments
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
Preferred:
- Technical training or trade school background
- Multi-axis machining experience
- GD&T knowledge and first-article inspection experience
