Storm Publishing is a fast-growing, digital-first publisher with a proven track record of publishing global bestsellers. Our editorial team is ambitious, innovative, and dedicated to nurturing our existing authors while finding the next big success in commercial fiction.

We are looking for an Assistant Editor who wants to make a real impact and grow their editorial career. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across multiple titles, supporting authors, managing production, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, commercially successful books. You’ll gain end-to-end publishing experience – from manuscript through to publication – and play a key role in shaping how our authors’ stories reach readers. There is clear scope to take on more editorial responsibility over time, including the opportunity to develop commissioning experience as the team expands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out line edits and contributing to structural edits on selected titles, where required
  • Communicating regularly with authors and supporting them as part of their editorial team
  • Project managing titles through editorial and production stages, keeping schedules on track
  • Reading and identifying high-potential submissions, providing editorial feedback where required
  • Writing retailer descriptions, metadata, and promotional copy
  • Keeping retailer descriptions updated with exceptional reader reviews
  • Writing copyedit briefs and reviewing copyedited manuscripts
  • Checking proofs and managing corrections with authors
  • Preparing files for production, including paperback and ebook conversions
  • Briefing paperback covers to designers and managing corrections
  • Preparing audio casting briefs
  • Writing press releases as required

About You

  • You have at least 1–2 years experience in an editorial or publishing role
  • You are confident communicating directly with authors and agents and collaborating with freelance editors, designers and other creative contributors
  • You have strong editorial skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • You are highly organised and comfortable managing multiple projects at once
  • You have excellent written communication skills and an interest in commercial fiction
  • You are ambitious and proactive, with an interest in developing commissioning skills in the future
