NET Developer – Edinburgh

About the role

As a developer at Storm ID you will work as part of our technical team in modern offices in historic Leith, engaging in a variety of projects and collaborating with diverse project teams.

You will work with developers and technical leads to specify, implement, test, and deploy software solutions for our varied clients, and grow and learn from others while making your own mark.

You will also participate in the creation of scripts and templates that automate the software delivery process, including infrastructure as code templates using Terraform or Bicep, build and test automation scripts for frontend and backend code, and maintenance of build and release pipelines within Git Hub Actions or Azure Dev Ops.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the project team to define features and functionality for client applications.
  • Deliver maintainable solutions using common design patterns and practices.
  • Implement reusable software components and scripts that support development and operational systems.
  • Debug and diagnose issues with applications and cloud infrastructure securely and compliantly.
  • Research and share knowledge of tools and technologies to improve build, deploy and maintain processes.
  • Participate in in‑house support of applications built by the team.
  • Provide support to other developers regarding Dev Ops processes and practices, including build script or infrastructure as code template creation.
  • Use continuous build and deployment pipelines to deliver code during development and support.
  • Assist in maintenance of continuous build and deployment environments.
  • Write, execute and maintain automated tests within continuous build and deployment pipelines.
  • Help produce and maintain reference and tutorial documentation related to Dev Ops processes for technical and non‑technical users.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience as a web developer working with production web applications.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of C# and . NET.
  • Interest and some experience in cloud‑native software delivery practices and processes.
  • Familiarity with source control systems like Git.
  • Experience with automation and provisioning on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Build and deployment automation with Git Hub Actions or Azure Dev Ops.
  • Web API development with ASP. NET Core (Minimal APIs or controllers).
  • Experience with relational databases such as Postgre SQL or SQL Server and ORMs like Entity Framework Core.
  • Containerisation with Docker.
  • Unit and integration testing using frameworks such as NUnit or x Unit.
  • RESTful API design, including HTTP verbs, status codes, and JSON.
  • “Secure by default” mindset and skills to improve security of solutions.
