Hello, I'm Katie, the Nursery Manager at Chesterfield.
I have been part of the Chesterfield team for over 15 years. Alongside my deputy manager, we bring a wealth of early years knowledge and lead a dedicated, long-standing team—all committed to providing the best care and learning experiences for our children.
Housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building, our nursery offers a true home-from-home atmosphere, where every child is warmly welcomed into a close-knit and nurturing environment.
We place a strong focus on connecting with nature through our outdoor spaces, which include a teepee, vegetable patch, sensory garden, and apple trees—inviting children to explore, discover, and learn throughout all seasons.

How you’ll spend your time here
You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps. Sometimes you'll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session. You'll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan.... That will soon get completely derailed though... Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care! Creativity is key. Teaching young children allows for hands on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It's important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn't stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.
What you'll need
- A full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification within early years. (We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, as long as they demonstrate the necessary qualities, values and enthusiasm for working within this environment. If you think you've got the right attitude and abilities, submit an application, who knows it might be the best thing you ever did. Nothing ventured nothing gained!)
- Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5, is advantageous
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable
