Hello, I’m Katie, the Nursery Manager at Chesterfield. I have been part of the Chesterfield team for over 15 years. Alongside my deputy manager, we bring a wealth of early years knowledge and lead a dedicated, long-standing team—all committed to providing the best care and learning experiences for our children. Housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building, our nursery offers a true home‑from‑home atmosphere, where every child is warmly welcomed into a close‑knit and nurturing environment. We place a strong focus on connecting with nature through our outdoor spaces, which include a teepee, vegetable patch, sensory garden, and apple trees—inviting children to explore, discover, and learn throughout all seasons.
How you’ll spend your time here:
- You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps.
- Sometimes you'll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session.
- You’ll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan, but pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care!
- Creativity is key. Teaching young children allows for hands‑on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games.
- It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged.
We’d love to talk to you if you have the following:
- Ideally hold a Level 2 or above qualification, Early Years Educator / Practitioner / Nursery Nurse or similar.
- You enjoy supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children.
- You have a natural, nurturing openness, a warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.
- We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, so if you can demonstrate the necessary values and enthusiasm for working within this environment, submit an application.
What you'll need:
- A full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification within early years.
- Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5 is advantageous.
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable.
- Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness and working together.
Benefits for You:
- Enhanced holidays, paid sick pay, extra wellness day off (yearly) and access to your pay before payday with Pay Captain.
- Childcare Discount + Funding, compassionate leave & enhanced maternity leave.
- Partnerships with Vitality & Peppy; fertility & menopause support, gym discount, free movie tickets.
- Investing in your future with micro-learning, financial stability tools & the Storal Support Fund.
- Termly inset days, team member app and Storal Awards.
Safeguarding & Standards:
Storal sets the highest of standards when it comes to safeguarding, the welfare of children and creating a work environment that encourages feedback-discussion-resilience. We take our role in the safety of children, our families and our team extremely seriously. As governed by the EYFS, we have a designated safeguarding lead in each setting and all staff (and volunteers) complete thorough compliance checks prior to employment including employment references & DBS.
