Job Purpose: Oversee the maintenance and facilities operations for our network of childcare nurseries across England to ensure all sites are safe, compliant, and well-maintained to provide an optimal environment for children and staff.
Main Responsibilities:
- Facility Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all nursery sites; Coordinate and oversee routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance across multiple locations; Ensure all facilities meet health, safety, and regulatory standards for nursery environments; Identify environment improvements and potential refurbishment projects.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of office-based maintenance coordinators and field-based regional maintenance staff; Coordinate with nursery managers to address maintenance needs promptly; Develop and maintain relationships with approved contractors and service providers.
- Budget and Resource Management: Manage the annual maintenance budget for all sites; Analyse spending patterns and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate; Oversee inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment across all locations.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all sites comply with relevant health and safety regulations; Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments; Implement and maintain emergency preparedness plans for all facilities.
- Reporting and Communication: Provide regular status reports to leadership on maintenance activities and facility conditions; Develop and maintain a centralised system for tracking maintenance requests and completions; Collaborate with regional operations managers to minimise disruptions to daily operations.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, health and safety regulations, and childcare facility requirements.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in facilities management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently to sites across England.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and emergencies.
