Hi, I’m Amy, the Nursery Manager at Shepshed. I’ve proudly been part of the Shepshed team for my entire 18‑year childcare career—starting as a Nursery Nurse in the baby room and now, for the past four years, having the privilege of leading this incredible team as Manager. My wonderful team is truly dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care and education, supporting each and every child to reach their full potential.
Our beautiful building and extensive gardens provide the perfect backdrop for a rich, engaging learning experience. With dedicated spaces for all age groups—including a unique outdoor classroom, planting areas, and opportunities for wildlife exploration—we nurture curiosity and spark imagination every day. Our children explore inspiring environments including our baking room, cosy story space, a home corner and large construction area. Our newly refurbished baby room offers a calm, cosy, and nurturing space where our caring team follows each baby’s individual routine, creating a home‑from‑home environment right from the start.
Storal’s Purpose: To give children healthy foundations in fantastic settings, helping them build the confidence and resilience that will set them up for success later in life.
How you’ll spend your time here: You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps. Sometimes you’ll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session. You’ll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan that will soon get completely derailed, though. Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care. Teaching young children allows for hands‑on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn’t stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.
We’d love to talk to you if you have the following:
- You’re a Level 2 or above qualified, Early Years Educator / Practitioner / Nursery Nurse or similar and you’re looking for an Early Years Educator/Nursery Nurse/Early Years Practitioner role that allows you flexibility of working shifts around your other commitments.
- You enjoy supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children and were born to teach and shape the future of our younger generations.
- You have a natural, nurturing, openness, warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.
- We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, so if you can demonstrate the necessary values and enthusiasm for working within this environment, submit an application.
What you’ll need:
- Full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification within early years.
- Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5.
- Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable.
- Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness and working together.
Benefits for You:
- For you – We get the basics right: enhanced holidays, paid sick pay, extra wellness day off (yearly) and you can access your pay before payday with Pay Captain.
- Family matters – Balance starts at home: childcare discount + funding, compassionate leave & enhanced maternity leave.
- Health & wellness – Nourishing body & mind partnerships with Vitality & Peppy; fertility & menopause support, gym discount, free movie tickets.
- Development – Investing in your future with micro‑learning, financial stability tools & the Storal Support Fund.
- Our community – Growing together: termly inset days, team member app, and Storal Awards.
