Hi, I’m Amy, the Nursery Manager at Shepshed. I’ve proudly been part of the Shepshed team for my entire 18‑year childcare career—starting as a Nursery Nurse in the baby room and now, for the past four years, having the privilege of leading this incredible team as Manager. Our children explore inspiring environments including our baking room, cosy story space, a home corner and large construction area. Our newly refurbished baby room offers a calm, cosy, and nurturing space where our caring team follows each baby’s individual routine, creating a home‑from‑home environment right from the start.
Storal’s Purpose: To give children healthy foundations in fantastic settings, helping them build the confidence and resilience that will set them up for success later in life.
How you’ll spend your time here: You’ll be helping to provide cover for the children as and when needed. This could be for periods of holiday, sickness, or even vacancy gaps. Sometimes you’ll support for a full day, or it may just be a morning or afternoon session. You’ll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan that will soon get completely derailed, though. Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in child care. Teaching young children allows for hands‑on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn’t stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.

- You’re a Level 2 or above qualified, Early Years Educator / Practitioner / Nursery Nurse or similar and you’re looking for an Early Years Educator/Nursery Nurse/Early Years Practitioner role that allows you flexibility of working shifts around your other commitments.
- You enjoy supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children and were born to teach and shape the future of our younger generations.
- You have a natural, nurturing, openness, warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.
