Hello, I'm Nicola, the Nursery Manager at Leek. With over 34 years of experience in early years—progressing from EY practitioner and room leader to nursery manager—I’m proud to lead a professional and dedicated team.

Situated in a small market town, our nursery is a close-knit community where every child and family feels a strong sense of belonging. Our exciting outdoor space encourages exploration and active play, offering endless opportunities for discovery and learning. We also provide small group learning experiences tailored to each child's individual needs, supporting them to reach their full potential at their own pace.

About you

You are a Level 2 or above qualified Early Years Educator / Practitioner / Nursery Nurse or similar who enjoys supporting and encouraging the natural curiosity and excitement of young children. You have a natural, nurturing openness, a warm and positive outlook, and you care about learning and education standards in the UK.

What you'll be doing

You’ll likely start most of your days with a fully formulated plan... That will soon get completely derailed though... Pivoting when the circumstances call for it is a regular occurrence in childcare! Creativity is key. Teaching young children allows for hands-on arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, and educational games. It’s important to keep things fresh and try new activities to keep attention spans engaged. Of course we work within the EYFS standards, but that doesn’t stop you from engaging your creative flair and enthusiasm for learning.

What you'll need

  • A full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification within early years. We can sometimes consider unqualified Educators, as long as they demonstrate the necessary qualities, values and enthusiasm for working within this environment.
  • Experience as an Early Years Educator (Nursery Nurse/Practitioner) or having worked with children under the age of 5, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS is desirable.
  • Reflecting the Storal values around responsibility, openness and working together.

Benefits at a glance

  • For you – We get the basics right: enhanced holidays, paid sick pay, extra wellness day off (yearly) and accessing your pay before payday with PayCaptain.
  • Family matters – Balance starts at home: Childcare Discount + Funding, compassionate leave & enhanced maternity (and more).
  • Health & wellness – Nourishing body & mind: Partnerships with Vitality & Peppy; fertility & menopause support, gym discount, free movie tickets and more.
  • Development – Investing in your future: Micro-learning, financial stability tools & Storal Support Fund.
  • Our community – Growing together: Termly inset days, team app & Storal Awards gathering.

We pay for your DBS upfront along with reimbursing your annual update service charge. We partner with world-leading third parties such as Pay Captain, Vitality, and Peppy.
