We are looking for a Mid-level Software Engineer to join our team at Stora, a self-storage software platform driving technology transformation in the industry.
As a software engineer at Stora, you will join a team of passionate Rubyists working together to enhance and expand our Rails-based platform. You will help deliver our product roadmap and improve internal tools that keep Stora running smoothly.
You will work across a variety of domains: billing, CRM, public APIs, reporting, integrations, and internal tooling. Our stack is a majestic monolith with Rails 7.1, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, Turbo, React, ViewComponents, Sass.
Your Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features, owning them from initial discussions through to deployment.
- Work closely with the product team and other stakeholders to shape and refine new features.
- Dedicate time to app maintenance – at least 20% – improving stability, performance, and developer experience.
- Write and maintain tests to confidently deploy to production multiple times per day.
- Monitor, investigate, and resolve issues to keep the system stable and performant as we scale.
- Collaborate with and learn from experienced engineers to continuously grow your skills.

- Backend: Rails 7.1, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq.
- Frontend: Turbo 8, React, ViewComponents, Sass, BEM methodology.
- Testing: Minitest, Capybara, Selenium.
- Payments: Stripe Connect and Billing.
- Deployment: GitHub Actions, Heroku.
What We’re Looking For
- Built and shipped production Rails applications with a deep understanding of ActiveRecord, background jobs, and request/response cycles.
- Comfortable leveraging modern LLM‐powered tools to speed development and troubleshooting.
- Testing mindset and experience writing automated tests in Minitest or RSpec.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting production issues.
- Ability to work independently on well‐defined projects while collaborating closely with a small, fast‐moving team.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical challenges and trade‐offs effectively.

- 4 or 5‐day week – choose between working a 4‐day (32‐hour) or 5‐day (40‐hour) week.
