Lead US Recruiter - Marketing, Creative & Digital

Help Us Build the Next Chapter of Stopgap.

Stopgap is a specialist marketing, digital, creative and communications recruitment consultancy with an established reputation and network built over more than 30 years.

We've successfully supported clients and candidates across the UK and Australia, and we're now ready to accelerate our growth into the United States.

We're looking for an entrepreneurial recruiter to become our first dedicated US specialist—a rare opportunity to help shape and grow a new market within an established international business.

Why This Role Is Different.

This isn't a typical recruitment consultant role. We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and creating something from the ground up.

You’ll have the backing of an established brand, experienced leadership team and specialist marketing recruitment expertise, but you’ll also have the freedom to help define how we grow in the US market.

For the right person, this role offers genuine potential to become the go-to leader for our US operation as it develops.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Building and growing Stopgap’s presence within the US marketing, digital and creative recruitment market
  • Developing relationships with hiring managers, agencies, brands and marketing leaders
  • Winning new business and generating recruitment opportunities
  • Managing the full recruitment lifecycle from client briefing through to successful placement
  • Building candidate networks across marketing, digital, creative, communications and related disciplines
  • Advising clients on hiring trends, salary benchmarking and talent availability
  • Identifying market opportunities and helping shape our US growth strategy
  • Working closely with our UK and Australian teams to share insights and opportunities

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has recruitment experience, ideally recruiting in the US market, or has a strong understanding of US hiring practices and business culture.
  • Enjoys business development and building long‑term client relationships.
  • Is commercially minded and motivated by success.
  • Can work independently and take ownership of growing a market.
  • Is excited by the opportunity to help build something rather than simply inherit an existing desk.
  • Has the confidence to represent a specialist brand and establish credibility with senior stakeholders.

What You’ll Get

  • The opportunity to become the founding US recruitment specialist within an established business.
  • Significant autonomy and influence over the development of the US market.
  • Flexible working.
  • Competitive base salary.
  • Commission structure with strong earning potential.
  • The chance to grow into a senior leadership role as the US business expands.

At Stopgap, we’re passionate about marketing, creative and communications talent. We combine specialist market knowledge with a relationship‑led approach and have built a reputation for quality, integrity and long‑term partnerships.

As we expand our international footprint, we’re looking for someone who shares our ambition and wants to play a key role in building the future of our US business.

So if you’re an ambitious recruiter who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and creating opportunities, we’d love to hear from
