Main purpose and scope of the job

  • Promoting the training package, to build and maintain effective relationships with general practice teams, and to recruit local general practices to participate in the training package.
  • Providing in-house training for general practice teams on understanding, recognising and responding to domestic abuse.
  • Providing ongoing specialist advice and support around domestic abuse to practice teams.
  • Encouraging general practice health professionals to ask patients about their experience of abuse and respond, record, safety check and refer.
  • Providing specialist, individual and needs-led advocacy and support to patients who are or have experienced domestic abuse who are referred from participating practices, and to provide onward referrals where appropriate.
  • Collecting and collating performance and monitoring data for reporting purposes and also with a view to further embedding and developing the programme locally.
  • Working with those experiencing domestic abuse to increase their personal safety, and that of any children, and inform them of their rights and options in terms of housing, legal and welfare rights
