Position Purpose: To ensure that customer transaction screening is effective and in line with the firm's financial crime framework and programme, ensuring high standards for operational efficiency and risk appetite are maintained. Supporting the firm in enhancing its overall transaction screening capabilities across the entire business as a key priority.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement transaction screening rules aligned with the firm's business risk profile.
- Optimize and tune the system continuously to reduce false positives.
- Review escalated and complex sanctions alerts, performing thorough investigations to resolve cases.
- Contribute to the development of transaction screening policies and procedures, ensuring improvements and maintenance of high standards.
- Conduct ongoing calibration, gap analysis, risk assessments, and prepare testing reports to maintain the effectiveness of the transaction system and alignment with industry standards.
- Oversee the preparation of weekly and monthly MI and KPI reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
- Play a pivotal role in delivering transaction screening projects, collaborate with Global Technology Solutions, and support engagement with internal and external vendors to facilitate successful vendor and change rollouts.
- Ensure sufficient resources are available to achieve targets and meet firm SLAs, as well as provide training and assist with recruitment when necessary.
- Foster and strengthen relationships with key project personnel and across group entities.
- Assist with external and internal audit investigations and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong understanding of sanctions requirements in regulated financial institutions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in sanctions systems implementation, calibration and fine tuning of sanctions models.
- Excellent critical thinking, with the ability to analyse situations and solve problems, delivering practical and compliant financial crime prevention risk management.
- Extensive expertise in SWIFT, ISO screening standards, regulatory sanctions, and all other applicable laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and regulatory operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong and efficient decision making skills with the ability to use judgement and operate autonomously when required.
- Effective planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Relationship building and communications skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to see the bigger picture and deal effectively with competing priorities.
- Sanctions formal qualification is highly desirable.
- Ability to proactively identify and analyse problems and design effective solutions, with the appropriate oversight and governance.
- Ability to lead and achieve results through others.
- Able to use good judgement and experience to articulate and document decision making rationale.
- Additional language skills would be an advantage in our global business environment.
