Position Purpose: The EMEA Tax Accountant will play a key role in overseeing income tax provision preparation, managing tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions in Europe, Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”), and ensuring adherence to all applicable tax laws and regulations. This position requires a highly analytical individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate complex tax matters in a fast‑paced, multinational environment.
Responsibilities
- Corporate Tax Compliance:
- Preparation of UK tax returns, in Alphatax, for the UK entities
- Preparation of calculation of corporation tax payments to HMRC
- Preparation of financial statement tax notes for the UK, Poland & Cyprus
- Preparation of monthly corporate income tax oracle journals for EMEA entities
- Preparation with US GAAP income tax provision workbooks for EMEA entities
- Preparation of R&D claims
- Monitoring UK corporate income tax legislative changes
- Drafting UK tax strategy and SAO disclosures
- Co‑ordinate with external advisers with preparation of non‑UK tax returns (UAE, Netherlands, Cyprus, Poland)
- Manage tax compliance calendar
- Assist with global AEOI compliance for the following territories: UK, Singapore, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Seychelles, Australia, Cayman
- Completion of FATCA/AEOI forms submitted by counterparties and advice to the business
- Advising on‑boarding teams in relation to tax requirements for counterparty on‑boarding
- Assisting with preparation of monthly global transfer pricing journals
- Maintaining transfer pricing documentation
- Prepare the annual PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSA) for submission to HMRC
- Assisting with tax opportunities to reduce group’s effective tax rate
- Assisting with mitigating tax risks
- Assisting with providing tax planning advice in connection with commercial transactions and group reorganizations
- Assisting with initiatives driven by the Global Tax Team
- Liaising with other corporate groups
- Assisting with non‑tax projects requiring tax involvement
- General administration relating to the EMEA Tax Team
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting, CPA, CMA, or tax qualification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post‑qualification experience in a public accounting firm; Exposure to income tax provision preparation and multi‑jurisdictional tax compliance preferred; Some exposure to transfer pricing, and structuring corporate transactions preferred; Financial services company experience preferred; Experience working for a company with U.S.-based clients preferred
- Technology: Knowledge of UK tax software; Good excel skills; Familiarity with using oracle and power BI preferred
- Other Relevant Skills: Excellent communication and client‑servicing skills; Ability to build rapport with colleagues in tax and across various teams and business units; Adept at prioritizing tasks and maintaining productivity in high‑pressure situations; Good problem solving; Excellent attention to detail
