Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The role of Junior Dealer contains three main components: managing trading portfolios, dealing with clients and assisting with the provision of analytics for the desk. These is to be done while acting with the highest ethical and regulatory standards. The candidate will need to develop and become a vital member of a 12 man 24-hour team. It offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to the financial markets in a fast-paced role, with a slant towards Cryptocurrencies on a desk that trades all asset classes. The winning candidate will be able to apply analytic skills to assist the desk in PNL maximisation, and have access to all major asset classes before specialising if necessary. In addition, the role offers the candidate the unique ability to set their path within the Trading function, depending on skills and competencies demonstrated, along with their preferences.

Job Timeline

The role is initially one of learning, to have all the necessary knowledge to perform the role. Once this is deemed complete, passing a Dealing Test will be required to enable the Junior Dealer to interact with pricing, order acceptance and any client contact. Alongside this relevant exams must also be sat to prove this competency. On completion of both, the Junior Dealer will be certified with the FCA and able to take on the full role. Repeated failure to complete either test may result in termination if the candidate is not able to demonstrate the necessary competency to perform the role.

General Duties

  • Learn the individual trading conditions and rules relating to individual assets and asset classes.
  • Monitor market risk exposure and ensure relevant positions are monitored during the shift.
  • Assist in creating and developing desk analytics to benefit risk management, client analysis, and pricing teams – all towards the aim of PNL maximisation.
  • Ensure Trading management is provided with all relevant information and trading data as required.
  • Contribute to the development of the Cryptocurrency Trading and Risk strategy as requested concerning market risk mandates and optimising Revenue extraction.
  • Awareness of the real-time integrity of pricing published to clients throughout the shift, working to aid the Pricing Team if needed.
  • Ensuring you fulfil any individual requirements in relation to Compliance or MRLO guidance.
  • Understand and apply Best Execution and Transaction Reporting requirements to all aspects of your role.
  • Work with teams to validate Daily PL, working with Finance relevant to your specific asset class.
  • Work within shifts to ensure that all procedures pertaining to the reconciliation of Prime Broker and Liquidity Provider relationships are maintained.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills demonstrated by university-level qualification or relevant work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to learn about the financial markets; previous experience is not necessarily vital.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in an intense environment; multi-tasking is a given.
  • Shift work necessary, enabling London coverage of 7 am to 10 pm GMT during weekdays and assisting with weekend coverage for Cryptocurrencies (this is an essential part of the role).

Qualification and Skills

  • University Level Qualification in a relevant subject or relevant business experience.
  • Excel competency, complete computer literacy as systems and processes involved are complex.
  • Financial qualifications preferred.
  • Programming knowledge is helpful but not a requirement.
