The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
The purpose of the role will be to support and assist the Directors with all aspects of Health, Safety & Environmental to ensure the business meets SHE responsibilities and complies with all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all SHE regulations, policies, and standards, taking a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and legally compliant workplace.
- Support the continual improvement of Health, Safety & Environmental for the business.
- Help deliver new ideas and strategies to support growth and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the site production teams to further develop the H&S culture and senior management.
- Work with the Business Excellence Advisor to ensure training is delivered.
- Help ensure all legislation changes relevant to the business are delivered.
- Lead and manage any onsite projects within designated areas, as agreed and directed by head office or senior leadership, putting cost and health and safety principles at the heart of everything that we do.
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations and internal policies and procedures.
- Compliance with Environmental Permit (BS EN ISO 14001:2015) and Health & Safety Legislation.
- Ensuring that the company complies with the requirements of the respective legislation and notifying the senior leadership of issues that could impact compliance.
- Initial completion of Schedule 5 Notification and RIDDOR F2508 Forms in the event of incidents that require formal notification to the respective authorities.
- Update the correspondence and communication log to show details.
- Follow up progress reporting in respect of formal notifications to the Environment Agency and the Health & Safety Executive after consulting the responsible manager for feedback and discussion.
- Ensure that responsible managers are aware of any follow-up requirements in a timely manner to maintain good communications between the company and the authorities.
- Maintaining and updating company Procedures and Forms in Health & Safety and Environment for application in Commercial, Administration and Operations areas with assistance from Business Excellence Advisor and External resource when applicable.
- Conducting Risk Assessments and producing SSOW and Operating Procedures.
- Deliver internal Health & Safety training.
- Support KPI reporting needed by senior leadership and HR, including helping identify key challenges and potential actions to address them.
Responsibilities
- Auditing - Internal and External: Ensure all required Internal Audits are completed in a timely manner and any identified actions are properly prioritized, logged and followed up by alerting and chasing the individuals concerned.
- These internal and external audits include Environmental aspects, Environmental compliance obligations, Health and Safety surveys or PGI's.
- Carry out Internal Audits on processes outlined on the auditing schedule and update the calendar as appropriate.
- Insurance Claims: Preparation of all the claim files, correspondence with brokers (Includes amongst others Accident record book, RIDDOR F2508 (H&S Report).
- Collate any correspondence with the Health and Safety Executive as a result of a reported incident.
- Collate all information to facilitate the insurance broker in preparing the Company’s case (e.g. Accident Investigation Report, Full copy of the Claimant’s Training Records, Sick notes for the time the Claimant was unable to attend work, Minutes from any Health and Safety Meeting which discussed this incident).
- Schedule and organise monthly Health Safety and Environment Management Team meetings.
- General Administrative Duties: Gather initial information regarding accidents, near misses or environmental incidents and fill in or assist team members to fill in appropriate forms.
- Contribute to Monthly Management meetings leading on Health Safety and Environment updates.
- Provide additional data when required for the meeting to assist in understanding or decision making.
- Arrange and facilitate Health and safety and Environmental training.
- Arrange and facilitate Occupational Health visits, blood testing and update records.
Qualifications
- Significant knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Experience of managing both the Companies HSMS & EMS.
- Experience of managing businesses through 14001 audits.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years’ Health & Safety experience.
- Lead audit qualification or significant experience in carrying out site audits.
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate In Occupational Health & Safety.
- Member of IOSH desirable.
- Environmental Qualification - such as NEBOSH Environmental or significant experience of managing environmental responsibilities in a hazardous / permitted site.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good IT skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
