Responsibilities
Position Purpose: The Data Center/Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting all StoneX data centers and offices around the globe, including local areas where they reside. This role will support the physical installations of hardware in our Data Centers and Offices, manage office buildouts, resolve production issues, coordinate with local hands with IMAC (install, move, add, and change). Must be able to manage/oversee electrical, mechanical, monitoring, and control systems.
- Assist with building the processes and procedures that ensure the data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency, including analysing existing operating conditions, recommending innovative technologies, improving overall efficiency, and driving cost reduction through refactoring DC footprint configurations.
- Assist with coordinating access to Data centers for both internal and external engineers/vendors.
- Implement controls to proactively monitor power, cooling, and environment events and create trend reports to address issues.
- Manage remotely and sometimes physically the installation of various cross‑connects and carrier circuits.
- The engineer must have extensive knowledge of different cable types, including copper, fiber, twinax and AOC cables, to efficiently troubleshoot circuit issues.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and maintenance of infrastructure supporting data center operations.
- Analyse and resolve mechanical and electrical problems within the data centers.
- Supervise sub‑contractors and ensure all necessary preventative maintenance and emergency repairs are scheduled and performed.
- Directly interface with construction management teams, contractors, and consultants for all phased data center construction commissioning, including integration and testing of new systems while maintaining critical systems online.
- Respond to Data Center and facility emergencies as required, on call 24/7 as needed. A majority of the work in production environments must be done on weekends.
- Manage Data center work orders/tickets by completing necessary documentation and scheduling of resources. This duty includes reviewing and updating data center documentation and assessing risk to the business.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills are necessary for all cable mediums.
Qualifications
Working Environment: Hybrid, must have the ability to lift 50-75lbs, weekends and late nights.
