We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Professional Caregiver to support a young man with complex cerebral palsy in both home and outdoor environments, as well as in various activities. This is a physically demanding and emotionally rewarding role that requires a compassionate, calm, and committed individual to provide high-quality care.
Main duties of the job
- Provide compassionate care for a young man with cerebral palsy.
- Support in the home and community environment, as well as during daily activities.
- Use hoists, slings, and other equipment for safe moving and handling.
- Assist with physiotherapy, OT exercises, and related therapies (full training provided).
- Offer emotional support and foster independence where possible.
- Collaborate with family and multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, person-centred care.
Experience
- Experience of 1:1 or 2:1 care for individuals with special needs, particularly non-verbal individuals.
- Experience with Epilepsy, Dystonia and Muscle Tone Management.
- Must be comfortable supporting with water-based therapies (hydrotherapy).
- Familiarity with physiotherapy techniques, hydrotherapy, and special seating is desirable but not essential.
- Must be a non-smoker.
- A clean UK driving license with no penalties or convictions.
- Able to provide tailored support with a gentle and understanding approach.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- A positive and approachable personality is key.
- Committed to promoting the well-being and quality of life for the person being cared for.
- Experienced working with individuals with special needs in education, independent living, or healthcare settings is an advantage.
