The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a CAD Technician to join a successful and growing manufacturing business. This is a key position within the Design, Engineering and Projects team, providing technical support across a range of bespoke, high-value projects for customers both in the UK and internationally. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside an experienced design team, developing innovative engineering solutions while supporting products from concept through to manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings in line with customer requirements, company standards, and project timescales.
- Create and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles and value-engineering techniques to optimise designs for production.
- Work closely with manufacturing, projects, purchasing, and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and production-ready.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of products and processes.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.
- Assist with technical problem-solving and design modifications throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a CAD Technician, Design Engineer, Draughtsperson, or similar engineering design role.
- An engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience using AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drawing packages.
- Experience producing and managing Bills of Materials.
- Strong technical understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of iLogic, Python, VBA, or other automation/programming tools.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or bespoke project environment.
