Product Development Manager

About the Role

Stonetech Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established and innovative manufacturing business seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team.

This is a key strategic appointment where you'll lead the company's product development function, driving innovation from concept through to commercialisation while shaping the future direction of the product portfolio.

You'll manage a small but highly skilled engineering team, combining technical leadership with commercial thinking to identify new opportunities, improve existing products and support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new products from concept through to launch.
  • Drive continuous improvement and enhancement of existing product ranges.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce products into new markets and applications.
  • Provide technical leadership across the business, ensuring products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards and manufacturing capability.
  • Work closely with senior management to influence business strategy through technical expertise.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Product Development, R&D and Software Engineers.
  • Manage product roadmaps, development projects and engineering priorities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, sales and customers to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

We're looking for someone who combines strong engineering knowledge with commercial awareness and proven leadership experience.

You will ideally have

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading New Product Development (NPD) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience taking products from concept through design, testing and commercial launch.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing technical or engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence against business objectives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • HVAC or industrial product manufacturing.
  • Technically complex mechanical products.
