Job Summary

The role leads and defines the global supplier quality strategy to deliver robust quality systems, full compliance with automotive standards, and zero-defect performance across the global supply base. This spans across directing supplier selection and qualification, ongoing performance management, continuous improvement and collaboration, and comprehensive risk and compliance oversight.

Additionally, the role is responsible for building and maintaining a world-class supplier quality organization, developing global standards, processes, and governance aligned with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer-specific requirements. It involves leading global teams and partnering closely with procurement, engineering, and manufacturing while driving strategic supplier development programs to achieve best-in-class performance and support Stoneridge’s global business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the global supplier quality strategy, including policies, standards, and processes aligned with corporate objectives and automotive requirements (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 9001).
  • Lead global supplier selection, qualification, and audit programs, driving APQP/PPAP readiness for new programs and high-risk components.
  • Monitor and improve global supplier performance through standardized KPIs (PPM, COPQ, audit results) and lead escalations, problem-solving, and risk management activities.
  • Drive global alignment and continuous improvement initiatives, reducing cost of poor quality and ensuring supplier readiness for customer and industry audits.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing on strategic decisions, supplier development, tooling management, and capital planning.
  • Lead and coach regional supplier quality teams, manage global reviews, and report supplier performance and risks to executive leadership.

Education, Experience And Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (MSc preferred).
  • Certified Lead Auditor for IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3, with strong knowledge of automotive quality standards and core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive supplier quality or related areas, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in global quality management, supplier development, and understanding of commodity-specific (such as electronics) quality and production processes.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and PC skills, combined with excellent communication abilities in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and multicultural teams, with strong global and cultural awareness.
