An established and well-regarded consultancy is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its growing York-based team. Known for providing commercially robust and client-focused advice, the business works across a broad range of sectors including education, residential, healthcare, commercial and regeneration projects.

With a healthy pipeline of secured work and continued expansion, this is a great opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to build strong foundations within a supportive and professional cost management environment.

The Opportunity

You will work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and Cost Managers, assisting in the delivery of cost and commercial services from early project stages through to completion. The role offers excellent exposure to varied projects and clients, with plenty of scope for learning, responsibility and long-term progression.

Key Duties

  • Supporting the preparation of cost plans, estimates and tender documentation
  • Measuring and quantifying works for procurement and valuation purposes
  • Assisting with tender appraisals, contractor meetings and recommendations
  • Helping manage costs, variations, valuations and final accounts
  • Producing cost reports and contributing to forecasting and cash flow monitoring

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
  • Around 1–2 years’ experience within consultancy or a construction-based role
  • Confident with numbers, detail-oriented and well organised
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work
  • Keen to work towards MRICS (or equivalent) with structured support
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team
