Job Description

Assistant accountant needed for a Private Equity backed brand and strategy marketing consultancy. We're a close-knit, ambitious team, and we look for people who share our curiosity, care about doing great work, and want to grow with us.

The Role

We're looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. This is a broad, hands-on role covering the full transactional and management accounting cycle – from day-to-day processing and reconciliations through to month-end reporting, budgeting, and support on the annual audit. It's a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a well-rounded finance career within a fast-moving, PE-backed consultancy, with genuine support to study towards ACCA or CIMA and a clear path to develop into a Management Accountant role as you grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing all supplier invoices (Accounts Payable)
  • Payroll administration
  • Daily bank reconciliations
  • Month-end posting and variance analysis
  • Reconciling the balance sheet
  • Maintaining detailed accrual and prepayment schedules
  • Preparing and executing weekly payment runs
  • Preparing the quarterly VAT returns
  • Managing intercompany reconciliations and postings
  • Creating the weekly cash flow reporting
  • Improving and maintaining management reporting
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Assisting with Project accounting and profitability analysis
  • Supporting investor reporting
  • Supporting the year-end statutory accounts
  • Assisting with the annual audit
  • Producing the monthly management accounts pack, including WIP and debtor reporting
  • Owning the expenses system and expense claims using Ramp

Career Development

This role offers genuine scope to progress. As you build your experience and progress your ACCA or CIMA studies, there is a clear path to develop into a Management Accountant role within the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar accounts assistant or entry level accounting role, we would also consider those with more experience.
  • Would suit someone studying towards ACCA or CIMA
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems (currently using Quickbooks but we will migrate to a new system within 2 years)
  • High attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach
  • A proactive mindset, comfortable improving processes and taking ownership
  • Clear communication skills, with the confidence to liaise across the business

Benefits

Study support

A fully funded study package to support your ACCA or CIMA qualification, including 5 paid study days per year and course costs covered up to a cap.

Other Benefits

  • 2 days a week in the office (Tuesdays and Thursdays), with the rest of the week worked remotely
  • Recharge Fridays – the opportunity to finish at 2pm each Friday if workload allows
  • Free snacks available in the office every day.
  • An annual team getaway
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Private Healthcare
