Trading Standards Officer - Private Rented Sector
Stonehouse Recruitment Group are working with a London Local Authority to recruit an experienced Trading Standards Officer for a contract role focused on the private rented sector and Renters' Rights Act 2025.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on Trading Standards enforcement within the private rented sector
- Investigate breaches of legislation and manage enforcement cases
- Support Housing Regulatory Services with relevant statutory duties
- Investigate letting agent compliance, including the Tenant Fees Act 2019
- Prepare reports, evidence and enforcement documentation
- Provide advice to landlords, agents and stakeholders
Requirements
- Strong Trading Standards investigation and enforcement experience
- Knowledge of consumer protection and/or housing legislation
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- Private rented sector experience desirable
Location: London | Hybrid
Contract: Initial contract with potential extension
Rate: Competitive hourly rate
