Technical Support Officer (Licensing) – Devon – Contract
I’m currently working with a Local Authority in Devon who are looking to bring in a Technical Support Officer to support their Licensing Team on an initial 3-month contract.
£20–25 per hour
Office-based – 5 days per week
Initial 3-month contract
Free on-site parking
The role will involve providing technical and administrative support to the Licensing Team, ensuring applications are processed accurately and within statutory deadlines. Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and validating licensing applications and supporting documentation
- Carrying out compliance checks for licensed drivers and vehicles, including DBS and medical checks
- Responding to routine enquiries from applicants, licence holders, businesses and members of the public
- Maintaining accurate electronic case files, registers and correspondence
- Drafting licences and standard communications, and recording fees
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Supporting data cleansing, digitisation and case management system updates where required
The successful candidate will need strong administrative and organisational skills, experience assessing applications and maintaining accurate records, and confidence using databases and Microsoft Office. Previous experience in licensing or a similar regulatory environment would be advantageous, particularly across taxi and private hire, alcohol and entertainment licensing, or other local authority regulatory services.
