We’re currently looking for an experienced Housing Services Manager to join a Local Authority Housing Management service in the Midlands on an initial 3-month contract, with potential for ongoing work.

This is a senior operational role focused on leading Housing Management services, improving performance and driving service transformation, while ensuring residents remain at the centre of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop Housing Management teams, creating a high-performing and accountable service culture.

  • Oversee tenancy management, income collection, estate services and tenant engagement.

  • Drive service improvement, performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Use performance data, customer feedback and quality assurance to identify and address service issues.

  • Support the Council’s housing transformation and continuous improvement programmes.

  • Ensure compliance with housing legislation, consumer standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage complex housing cases, complaints, Member enquiries and Ombudsman matters where required.

  • Work closely with senior management, elected Members and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support regulatory assurance, inspection readiness and effective governance across Housing Management.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong Local Authority Housing Management experience.

  • Proven experience managing and developing housing teams.

  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, regulation and consumer standards.

  • Experience delivering service improvement, performance management or transformational change.

  • Strong understanding of tenancy management, income collection and estate services.

  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to identify service issues and implement practical, measurable improvements.

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.

  • CIH membership or recognised housing qualification would be advantageous.

Experience supporting housing transformation, regulatory inspections, service harmonisation or significant performance improvement would be highly advantageous.
