A Local Authority is looking for an experienced Food Standards Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension.
The role will focus on Food Standards inspections, allergen compliance and enforcement activity, working across a varied caseload.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking Food Standards inspections
- Carrying out allergen and compliance work
- Inspecting unrated food premises
- Investigating Food Standards issues and complaints
- Supporting formal enforcement action where required
- Managing a varied caseload and maintaining accurate records
- Working closely with colleagues and other relevant agencies
- Travelling locally to undertake inspections
What We're Looking For
- Recent Local Authority Environmental Health or Trading Standards experience
- Recent Food Standards competency
- Experience undertaking Food Standards inspections
- Knowledge of allergen compliance and enforcement
- Experience with formal enforcement activity
- Good communication and report-writing skills
- Relevant Food Standards qualification recognised by the Food Standards Agency
- Own vehicle/transport required

- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Hybrid working
- Regular office attendance required
