I am currently working with a Local Authority in the North East to help them secure an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support the team across a broad range of environmental health functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspections, investigating complaints, and progressing enforcement action where necessary in line with relevant environmental health legislation.

The role will involve providing advice and guidance to businesses and members of the public, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining accurate records and reports. The role offers hybrid working, with a mixture of office-based duties and site visits. Rates will start from £40 per hour, depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within an Environmental Health team within a Local Authority. A strong understanding of environmental health legislation, inspection and enforcement processes will be essential, along with the ability to manage cases independently and communicate effectively with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and confident in dealing with a varied caseload while working both independently and as part of a wider team.
