We are currently supporting a Local Authority in the Essex area with the recruitment of an experienced Environmental Health Officer for an initial 3-month contract assignment.
This role sits within the Private Sector Housing function and will focus primarily on complaints-driven work, enforcement activity, and housing standards compliance.
The successful candidate will have experience dealing with:
Private Sector Housing complaints
HMO inspections and enforcement
Serving statutory notices
Regulatory compliance and case management
Statutory nuisance investigations (desirable)
Planning and licensing consultation responses (desirable)
The position requires an officer who can independently manage a varied caseload, provide professional advice, and ensure compliance with relevant Environmental Health legislation and local authority policy.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent)
Previous local authority Environmental Health experience
Strong enforcement and investigative experience
Ability to manage complaints through to resolution
