Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal in Northwich

Northwich Full-Time No working from home possible
S

Office-based only – this is not a hybrid or remote-working position

Salary: Dependent on experience

Stonehewer Moss Limited is an established legal practice based at 4 The Bull Ring, High Street, Northwich, CW9 5BS. We specialise in personal injury law, acting for clients locally and throughout England and Wales.

We pride ourselves on providing accessible, professional and practical legal advice, with a strong emphasis on personal service and achieving the best possible outcome for our clients.

We are an APIL Accredited Practice, and the successful candidate will be expected to become an individual member of APIL.

The Role

We are looking for a Personal Injury Paralegal to join our team.

This is a permanent, part-time position working four days per week from 9.30am to 2.30pm at our Northwich office. The role is entirely office-based and is not available on a hybrid or remote-working basis.

The role would particularly suit someone who has spent a couple of years working within a personal injury practice and is now looking to develop their experience and take greater responsibility for progressing cases.

You will assist with both pre-litigation and litigated personal injury claims, working alongside experienced solicitors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dealing with new client enquiries and obtaining initial information.
  • Progressing personal injury claims from initial instruction onwards.
  • Using and understanding the MOJ Claims Portal and the claims process.
  • Liaising with clients, insurers, medical agencies, experts, solicitors and other third parties.
  • Obtaining and reviewing medical records and medical evidence.
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements and other legal documents.
  • Assisting with pleadings and court documentation where appropriate.
  • Monitoring limitation dates and other important deadlines.
  • Preparing files for negotiation, conferences, hearings and trial.
  • Keeping clients informed about the progress of their claims.
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organised case files.

About You

We are primarily interested in finding someone with practical personal injury experience rather than requiring a particular academic qualification.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Around two years' experience working as a paralegal, legal assistant or similar within a personal injury firm.
  • A good working knowledge of the MOJ Claims Portal.
  • An understanding of how personal injury claims progress from initial instruction through the pre-action process and, ideally, into litigation.
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients and insurers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage deadlines and progress work without constant supervision.
  • Good general IT skills and experience of using a legal case management system.

A law degree, CILEX qualification, paralegal qualification or other legal qualification would be welcome, but is not essential where you have suitable personal injury experience.

Experience of litigated personal injury claims would also be an advantage, but we would be happy to consider someone whose experience has mainly been in pre-litigation personal injury work and who is keen to develop their litigation skills.
