The HGV Class 2 Driver / Scaffolder / Scaffolder Labourer is responsible for the safe transportation, loading and unloading of scaffolding materials, whilst assisting with the erection, alteration and dismantling of scaffolding structures in accordance with company procedures, industry standards and health and safety regulations. The role requires the operative to safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles to deliver and collect scaffolding equipment from sites, depots and suppliers, ensuring all loads are secured and transported in compliance with road traffic legislation. In addition, the operative will support scaffolders with the erection and dismantling of independent scaffolds, birdcages, temporary roofs, edge protection systems and other access solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loading and unloading vehicles
  • Maintaining vehicle checks and defect reports
  • Handling scaffolding materials
  • Maintaining site housekeeping
  • Following lifting and manual handling procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with SG4, TG20 and all company health and safety requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. They must be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and customer service whilst representing the company on site and on the road.

Duties:

Driving Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate company HGV Class 2 vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and company procedures
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and complete defect reports
  • Ensure all loads are correctly secured before transportation
  • Deliver and collect scaffolding materials from sites, depots and suppliers
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance requirements
  • Comply with Driver CPC, tachograph regulations and working time directives
  • Plan routes efficiently to ensure timely deliveries and collections

Scaffolding Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the erection, alteration and dismantling of scaffolding structures
  • Follow scaffold designs, method statements and risk assessments
  • Assist scaffolders with the installation of tube and fitting scaffolds, system scaffolds, edge protection, loading bays and temporary roof systems
  • Handle scaffolding components safely and efficiently
  • Carry out scaffold inspections where authorised and trained to do so
  • Ensure all scaffolding works are completed in accordance with TG20, SG4 and company procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment at all times

Labouring Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload scaffolding materials from vehicles
  • Assist with the movement and organisation of materials on site
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within work areas, vehicles and the yard
  • Prepare scaffolding materials and equipment for use
  • Assist with stock checks and material control
  • Support scaffolders and supervisors with general site duties
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are stored safely and securely

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Valid CISRS Part 2 ticket
  • Relevant Health & Safety certification (e.g., CSCS, CITB H&S Test)
  • Compliant Driving licence

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous scaffolding experience (minimum 6 months)
  • Strong understanding of safe scaffolding practices
  • Physically fit and comfortable working at heights
  • Team player with good communication and time management skills

Desirable:

  • Part 2 CISRS Card (for future progression)
  • First Aid, Manual Handling, or Working at Heights certificates
  • Full UK driving licence (if applicable)
