About Us

Stonegate Group is the UK’s largest operator of pubs, bars, and late-night venues, including Slug & Lettuce, Be At One, and Popworld, to name a few. We’re proud of our diverse portfolio and deeply committed to creating an inclusive culture that embraces individuality in all its forms—including neurodiversity. By fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported, we reflect the vibrant communities we serve and empower our people to thrive.

The Opportunity

If you’re an experienced hospitality leader with a successful track record in high‑volume, community‑focused pubs and you’re ready to take the reins of a truly vibrant, high‑energy venue, then The Fatling in Hornchurch could be exactly where you’re meant to be. Sitting proudly on the town’s bustling High Street, The Fatling is known for its lively atmosphere, regular live music, and busy weekends that draw a loyal crowd. It’s also a major destination for sports fans, thanks to its many screens and buzzing match‑day vibe. Add in one of the area’s best outdoor spaces, a heated garden that stays popular all year round and you have a venue with a big personality and an even bigger following.

About You

We’re looking for a General Manager who can match that energy. You’ll need to be a strong, confident leader, someone who sets the tone from the front and brings the best out of a large and busy team. This pub trades at pace, so you’ll thrive if you’re great at planning ahead, staying organised, and keeping everything running smoothly, even on the biggest nights. Commercially, you’ll have a sharp eye for cost control, stock management and profit conversion, making sure the pub remains both successful and sustainable. The Fatling is a go‑to destination for major occasions, from sporting events to live entertainment, so anticipating what’s coming and preparing your teams accordingly will be a key part of your success. Just as important is your ability to create brilliant guest experiences. Whether it’s a breakfast crowd, an afternoon of sport or a packed evening event, you’ll ensure every visit feels welcoming, well‑run and enjoyable. You’ll have strong support from the Area Manager and wider business to allow you to develop and put your own stamp on this iconic venue. If you’re a proven sales driver, focused developer of teams who thrives in a fast‑paced, event‑led environment and loves being at the heart of a busy community pub, this could be your next big move.

Please Note: To be eligible to apply, you MUST hold a valid Personal Licence.
